The St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store Scholarship was established by the volunteers of the thrift store in order to help deserving students continue their formal education in a trade school or college. The scholarship is needs based and is given to graduating high school seniors.
The scholarship(s) may consist of
One (1) $1,000 award,
Two (2) $500 awards, or
Four (4) $250 awards.
Applicants will be judged according to the following criteria:
(1) financial need,
(2) active participation in their community, school and/or parish, and
(3) academics.
Any student applying for a scholarship must demonstrate that they adequately meet the criteria for this application.
Application Process
Complete the attached St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store Scholarship Application Form.
Complete the Recommendation Form for PHS Teacher/Counselor/Community Leader.
Complete the Personal Essay answering the questions listed on the scholarship application.
Include all completed documents in a large envelope addressed to Sacred Heart Church, St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store Scholarship. Deliver the envelope to Sacred Heart Church office located at 529 I Street in Patterson. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure all paperwork is completed and included when submitted.
The application is due no later than 3 p.m. the first Monday in April.
Scholarship award letters will be mailed prior to the end of your senior year. Once you have registered with your college, you will be asked to provide a copy of your fall class schedule or a copy of your first-semester transcript. Your award check will then be forwarded to your chosen college to be credited to your account.
You will have one (1) year from the date of your award letter to provide proof of college registration. Scholarship awards cannot be claimed after one (1) year.
